Top ten tips
For an easy, quality Enduro conservatory roof installation
- The pitch can only be fitted at 2.5 degrees when using our fast pack accessories, which incorporate an aluminium wall plate, clamp plate and eaves angle.
- If fast pack accessories are not used, then the minimum pitch for an Everlite roof is 5 degrees, as it is secured using exposed top fixings. Water ingress may develop if these fixings were used at lower pitches.
- Flashings should either be aluminium, Ubiflex lead-free flashing or lead.
- Flashband should under no circumstances be used in conjunction with an Everlite roof as its material composition prematurely ages PVC-u panels.
- Profile fillers ref: EL36, as supplied in panel packs, should be fitted under the clamping plate and the underside of the panels at the abutment detail. These reduce the effects of drafts as well as preventing access of wind driven rain.
- Silicone sealants should not be used, as this is not a satisfactory seal for PVC-u panels.
- We always recommend two-part flashings at the abutment. However this is not always possible due to site constraints. Therefore, ensure that the flashing either seals inside a brick joint forming an upstand, or is fitted to the underside of at least the first row of roof tiles in low eaves bungalow applications.
- Flashings should wrap over the side of panels at the verge to prevent water ingress from wind driven rain.
- If an eaves angle is not fitted, we would recommend an eaves flashing dressed into the gutter to prevent the possibility of capillary action.
- Panels can easily be cut down to size along their width with a fine-toothed handsaw. When the panels need to be cut along their length, it must be on the rib upstand within the system to ensure structural integrity. The ultrasteel locking bars can be cut down to size using a good quality hacksaw.
